School Counselor, Peck Elementary
Counseling Philosophy
Building strong, genuine relationships lies at the heart of effective school counseling. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where every student feels safe, valued for who they are, and free to learn from mistakes. By modeling and teaching positive social skills, I help students navigate challenges and grow into responsible, empathetic citizens. When students need individualized support, I draw on person-centered and solution-focused approaches to guide them toward practical, achievable goals.
What I Do at Peck Elementary
- Comprehensive Support – I am a visible, accessible resource for students, families, and staff. From brief hallway check-ins to scheduled individual or small-group sessions (with parent consent), my door is always open.
- Campus-Wide Outreach – Weekly morning announcements, grade-level assemblies, and classroom guidance lessons ensure every child hears consistent messages about social-emotional wellness and positive behavior.
- Positive Behavior Program – In partnership with our Positive Behavior Committee, I lead school-wide initiatives that celebrate good choices and reinforce expectations introduced each September.
- Whole-School Advocacy – As an active member of the Shared Decision-Making Committee (SDMC) and Safety Committee, I elevate student needs in conversations about campus policies, programs, and community partnerships.
